Praxis Week 2025 – Hosted in Collaboration with UCC Staff Group Together for Palestine

On 29th May, as Praxis Week 2025 neared its close, participants gathered in The Shtepps for a screening of No Other Land – a multi-award-winning documentary capturing life under Israeli occupation in the West Bank. Hosted with UCC’s Staff Group Together for Palestine and coordinated by Simon Woodworth, the event offered space for witness, reflection, and dialogue.
About the Film
Created by a joint Palestinian–Israeli team, No Other Land documents home demolitions, settler violence, and everyday acts of resistance. Filmed largely with handheld cameras and phones, it delivers an intimate, unfiltered view of survival under occupation while challenging simplified “two-sides” narratives. Its collaborative approach places structural injustice, and Palestinian resilience, at the centre.
Audience Response
Reactions were strong: “harrowing,” “visceral,” “unforgettable.” Some attendees sought information on local solidarity actions, learning about regular marches in Cork organised by the Cork Palestine Solidarity Campaign and UCC’s Together for Palestine.
UCC’s Role and the Call to Act
Discussion turned to UCC’s institutional stance on Palestine, with calls for not just symbolic gestures but concrete steps—such as ethical procurement and investment policies.
Tech for Justice
Simon Woodworth highlighted how tech and academic expertise can support Palestinian rights, from mapping safe corridors and securing communications to preserving digital archives of war crimes and oral histories.
Final Reflections
More than a film screening, this was a call to solidarity. In a week focused on Whose Voices? Whose Futures?, No Other Land underscored that listening must lead to action—and that global citizenship is defined not only by empathy, but by responsibility.
