The educational resources developed through the Praxis Project at University College Cork (UCC), with funding from Irish Aid, support the integration of Global Citizenship and Development Education (GCDE) and Global Justice Education (GJE) into higher education.
Drawing on research, critical pedagogy and collaborative educational practice, these resources encourage educators and students to engage critically with global justice issues, explore diverse perspectives and develop approaches to teaching and learning that connect reflection with meaningful action.
Inspired by Paulo Freire’s concept of praxis, the resources emphasise the relationship between critical reflection and transformative action. Developed with university staff, students and international partners, they offer practical tools, case studies and participatory methodologies that can be adapted across disciplines and educational contexts.

1. Thematic and Disciplinary Educational Resources – 2024
This collection of eight educational resources was developed through the Praxis Project to support the integration of Global Citizenship and Development Education across higher education.
Covering a diverse range of themes and disciplines, including health, critical pedagogy, anti-racism, LGBTQ+ experiences, creative educational methodologies, the history of Development Education and solidarity with Palestine, the resources bring together research, critical perspectives and practical approaches to teaching and learning.
Each resource offers educators opportunities to engage students in critical inquiry, participatory learning and action for social change. The resources can be used in their entirety or adapted for individual lectures, workshops, modules and other educational settings.

2. North–South Partnership Resources – 2024–2026
A second collection of Praxis resources has emerged from research and educational partnerships involving University College Cork and partners in Malawi, India, Palestine, Peru and The Gambia.
These collaborations explore how North–South partnerships can contribute to more equitable, reciprocal and transformative approaches to higher education. Particular attention is given to questions of power, knowledge, representation, inequality and solidarity, and to the importance of recognising diverse forms of knowledge and lived experience.
The resulting research and educational resources draw on collaborative inquiry, cross-cultural learning and participatory methodologies. They provide insights, case studies and practical approaches that educators can use to explore global justice issues, critically examine international partnerships and develop more inclusive and transformative educational practices.
Together, these four partnership outputs demonstrate how collaborative research and educational practice can contribute to Global Justice Education within and beyond the university.
