Graduate Attributes Programme

The Praxis Project is delighted to have contributed to UCC’s Graduate Attributes Programme in 2022.

Graduate attributes refer to the skills, knowledge and abilities of UCC graduates, beyond disciplinary content knowledge, that are applicable in a range of contexts in their lives. They advance the development of academic, specialist and technical skills.  We are delighted to have been invited to add a three hour section in the new Your UCC Graduate Attributes and Values Compass, which shows the increased recognition of the value of Global Citizenship for today’s graduates.

Congratulations to the GAP programme on the official launch of  this programme today, 20th Sept 2022, which we know many UCC students will benefit from going foward.

This self-assessment tool has been created to support and facilitate students in the development of their attributes and values. The amazing learning experiences have been curated with the aim that all students are facilitated through curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular learning to develop their graduate attributes and values, in a manner reflective of their personal goals and programme of study. The development of this self-assessment tool was a key action and priority of UCC’s Academic Strategy 2018-2022, and we are delighted that students will get the opportunity to discover Your Compass from Semester 1 2022/23.

Based on extensive consultation with stakeholders, the following core graduate attributes will be prioritised for the lifecycle of this Academic Strategy:

  • Creators, evaluators and communicators of knowledge
  • Independent and creative thinkers
  • Digitally Fluent
  • Socially Responsible
  • Effective global citizens, who recognise and challenge inequality
